You would not recognize the original photo from the final image.
The original photo was a panoramic taken at a time when the clouds were getting a bit angry. Using Stubby, the Sigma 10-20mm wide angle I leaned out the window and fired off around seven shots to capture the whole screen.
Clarity, sharpening and a blue grey tone was added using Lightroom. Then in Photoshop the scene was changed from a wide screen aspect to a 1:1 square ratio and flipped 180 degrees.
I used the Distort/Polar Coordinates filter to wrap the image around a single point resulting in the above photo.
Stars were added to the background and a bit of dodging and burning to deepen the shadows and bring out the highlights.
