STUDIO PHOTOSHOOT - 2024

A little about me

I developed a passion for photography in 2011. My father was an amateur photographer in the 1970s, so I had some background knowledge. As an IT tech, the transition to digital photography was seamless for me. At the same time, Tempest Rose encouraged me to visit Madam Jo Jo's to gain experience in low-light shooting, which turned out to be a great opportunity. I was a guest photographer there for several events and then became the official photographer for Cabaret Roulette for several years. I've also worked at Apothecary, Cabaret Nouveau, Clocktopus Cabaret, and now The After Dark and Bella Whispers, among others.

In addition to my work in cabarets, I also enjoy doing walkabout shoots. I hope to do more studio shoots and create more digital portraits, which you can see on my website. I have a unique editing style that focuses on the overall image and effects, rather than just smoothing skin. I take pride in being an archivist, preserving all my work for future reference.

Studio Location

From Bermondsey Tube Station (Jubilee line) turn right onto Drummond Road, and follow the road until you reach THE BISCUIT FACTORY business complex. Enter the car park, and let me know when you are close, I can come and get you or direct you.

There is a strict fire regulation of only 5 people for the whole day not just per session.

Please do not arrive with anyone else unless you really need to and please let me know in advance.

It takes about 5-8 minutes to walk from Bermondsey tube station to the car park at The Biscuit Factory.

Exit Bermondsey station, go right, walk one block, turn right onto Drummond Street at William Hill.

Continue forward, steer clear of the trash bins. You will reach the parking lot. The entrance is located at the very south end.

Before you arrive

  • Please bring your own snacks and drinks. There is a small fridge available if you require it, please keep all liquids away from the photography equipment.

  • The room has lots of available power to charge a phone or tablet but please bring your required cable.

When you arrive

  • Please call me on my phone when you are close as I may have to come and get you from the entrance. Sometimes the lift is on key access but I will let you know once I arrive at the studio.

  • If you get into trouble please contact me ASAP. If you cannot make it to the venue on the day PLEASE let me know ASAP.

There will be a concise health and safety talk before the shoot but the basics are as follows:

  • If there is a fire please leave asap, don’t stand around taking a selfie with the fire.

  • Fire exits are clearly marked or you can just follow the sprinting photographer if you can keep up.

  • Please don’t touch the photography equipment in the room, the only items belonging to me are the tripod, cameras, and laptop.

  • If ‘Noir’ type shots are taken then the main lights can/will be switched off. Please do not move around the room until the main lights are back on.

Shoot Timescale:

  • For longer shoots, slots will be allocated, but usually start at 10 am and each slot is 2/4 hours long.

  • The time scales are dependent on availability but you will be notified before the shoot. If the shoot is 8 hours then the time will be split between those attending.

  • The session tends to will fly by so please think of what you would like to do and any outfit changes you require. I would suggest 3-4 outfits to match the five fully edited shots offered.

  • You are free to take shots of your own in the studio if you like. There are sometimes overlaps on longer shoots between slots, you are welcome to stay and watch for a while if you like.

Shoot details

  • I will be using my Sony A7 RIV camera with a Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 lens and a Sony 85mm f1.8 portrait lens backup.

  • During the shoot, there may be a time when you are in a pose and I notice something like a few hair strands need moving out the way of an eye or an ear, this may require interaction from me rather than you dropping that pose. Please be assured I will always ask permission before approaching to adjust anything!

  • I will have my laptop with me and will be using tethered control you will be able to see the shots on screen after each session.

  • You will be standing on coloured roll paper, usually white or grey. If it gets damaged I have to pay for it by the meter. So please, no jumping around in sharp pointy footwear, also please check and clean any shoes you are bringing.

  • Unfortunately, there can be no fire-breathing, liquid or glitter pours!

  • There is a separate changing area for you to use. Well, I say changing area… it is actually a couple of vanity boards stuck together but it serves its purpose.

  • There is a strict fire regulation of only 5 people for the whole day not just per session. Please do not arrive with anyone else unless you really need to and please let me know in advance.
